Fed: Howard confident of winning Queensland seats

SYDNEY, Feb 23 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard said he was optimistic of winning federal
seats in Queensland despite the Coalition's poor result in the recent state election.

"I don't read a dramatic federal significance into the results," Mr Howard told a business
lunch in his Sydney electorate of Bennelong today.

"I have always taken the view that people reach separate conclusions about the state
and federal polls."
